Colleagues
I am pulling together a series of debates to be held around the UK with a focus on 'Cyber Security in HealthCare'. Being based in Scotland contacts are a bit thin on the ground so help with potential speakers would be greatly appreciated.
Synopsis
In the past data networks were solely the domain of personal computer systems. With the advent of Voice over IP telephony systems, medical data capture systems and Building Management Systems the numbers of threat vectors to a hospital network are multiplying almost daily. Even modern smart TVs present significant security challenges. On the face of things it would appear that vendors are supplying and organisations implementing systems with little or no understanding or management of the risks these new devices present.
These sessions will seek to explore what are the current attitudes and perceptions of this issue. What are peoples' experiences? How should the respective industries and user organisations move forward?
Locations
The initial events will be held in Manchester, London and Glasgow with a possible event in Wales as well.
Manchester
This will be a co-promoted event with BCS Health NW and BCS Manchester regional group and would be held in the Manchester Metropolitan University, All Saints Campus.
London
I am happy to organise in London and would assume a room either at Savoy Place or the BCS building in Southampton Street. This will probably a co-promoted event with the BCS Information Risk Management and Assurance specialist group.
Scotland
For Scotland I would propose using the Teacher Buil.ding in Glasgow. This I would see as a co-promoted event with BCS Health Scotland and BCS IRMA again.
Session Format
The format would be start at about 5:30pm for a 6:30pm start. The evening would start with a brief synopsis of the issues from the Chair. Each of the three speakers would have an opportunity to present the security issues around their own area of expertise and explain the measures their industry is taking to mitigate these risks. Each speaker would have up to 15 minutes maximum to present their case. The evening would be finished with a networking opportunity and finish by 9pm.
It is proposed that the Manchester event be in November and dates for the others will be finalised later,. The Wales event may coincide with the IET Cyber Securirty event in October.
If anyone has any ideas for potential speakers please let me know.
Kind regards
Andrew
