What are Profile Badges and Community Achievements?

When viewing your own or another IET EngX community member's profile you will notice that there may be a number of badges displayed. Some badges are our IET membership status badges and others are Community Achievement badges awarded to community members for their contributions to EngX. 

IET Membership Badges

These badges are displayed on the profile pages of members of the IET and indicate which category of IET membership they hold.

An Associate member of the IET. Associate members of the IET may not be engineers but may work in a related area, or may just be passionate about engineering and keen to connect with others and stay in touch with the latest developments in engineering and technology.

 

Student member of the IET. Student members are working towards a career in engineering and technology either at university or on an apprenticeship scheme.

 

An Apprentice member of the IET. Apprentice members are working towards a career in engineering through an apprenticeship scheme.

 

Technician member of the IET able to use the post nominals TMIET. To achieve this category of membership an individual must be a professional technician, have developed a certain standard of knowledge and understanding, and must be engaged in activity relevant to the interests of the IET.

 

 

Member of the IET able to use the post nominals MIET. To achieve this category of membership an individual has demonstrated that they have developed a certain standard of knowledge and understanding, and that they are engaged in activity relevant to the interests of the IET.

 

An Honorary Fellow of the IET is a highly acclaimed individual who has demonstrated exemplary contributions to the IET or their engineering discipline. They are elected by the IET Board of Trustees

 

Fellow of the IET is able to use the post nominals FIET. To achieve this category of membership an individual has demonstrated significant individual responsibility and sustained achievement in their profession.

 

Professional Registration

These badges indicate an EngX member's Professional Registration status

ICT Technician

 

 Engineering Technician

 

 Incorporated Engineer

 

 Chartered Engineer

Volunteering Roles

These badges are displayed on the profile pages of EngX members who volunteer for the IET. They indicate which area of the IET they volunteer their time and expertise for.

A volunteer on the IET Young Professionals Committee or a Young Professionals Ambassador 

 

A volunteer on the committee of one of the many IET Local Networks around the world

 

A volunteer on the committee of an IET Technical Network

 

A volunteer working alongside the IET Professional Development team

 

A volunteer working alongside the IET Registration and Standards team. 

 

A volunteering role not covered by any of the specific roles above.
