Welcome and Introduce Yourself

Welcome to the Electromagnetics network discussion page on Engineering Communities!
This is a thread to introduce yourself to your fellow network members. We’d love to hear more about you so here are a few questions to start you off - feel free to answer all, none or add your own!

    Name: Rob H

Brief career history: I started down the path of the black arts in 2004 as an EMC test engineer, I then spent 12 years from 2005 as a Radio Type Approval Engineer working in marine and aviation on the test and certification of emergency beacons and a whole host of radio telecommunications and navigation equipment - from radios to radars, GMDSS to GLONASS and AIS to AtoNs (admittedly, that's not a stretch).  I have since spent the last three years on the infrastructure side looking after the UK Coastguard's (MCA's) nationwide network of radio stations.

What interests you about Electromagnetics: Hm, tricky... I think maybe the satisfaction of being able to 'see the unseen'; being able to visualise EM and RF effects that are invisible in the real world.

Other interests: I'm currently seconded to a project engineering role working on Grey Funnel Line ships that's taking me back to my Mechanical Engineering roots. In my personal life, I'm an engineer through and through, blessed (/cursed) with 'the knack'; repairing rather than replacing and never content to say "I've no idea how that works".
  • Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself Rob.H‍ ?
  • Hi everyone, I'm Mike.

I graduated university back in 2010 after studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering, then I started my career as an EMC Test Engineer primarily in the automotive sector though dabbling in the military and commercial sectors.  Since then I've managed labs and provided design solutions and consultancy for EMC problems.

The thing I like about Electromagnetics is its everywhere and affects so many fields, we just have to manipulate its effects to our benefit

Other interests include learning about new technologies, video games, and exploring new places and cultures.

  • Welcome Mike D‍ and thanks for introducing yourself!!
  • Hello All,

I am Kwashie Amartei Anang and currently a lecturer at ips-international where i lecture digital and analogue electronics. I did my PhD in wireless communications and during my MSc i did design a horn  antenna for the Wimax frequency band hence, my interest in antenna and propagation because i am still carrying out research in that area.

My other research interest are looking into development of physical layer for 6 G, using the IoT to improve farming especially livestock production in Africa and  RF systems in general.

Looking forward to engage with all in a productive way.

    Thanks
  • Hi there, I'm Jeremy Smallwood - I'm a static electricity consultant and trainer - I also do a bit of research. I have my company Electrostatic Solutions Ltd www.electrostatics.net.
  • I am Dr. Tariq Hussain, I am a Chartered Engineer, working as a lecturer in System Engineering Department Military Technological College Muscat Oman. My area of interest includes instrumentation, particle charging especially bipolar charge generation in a particulate material. I am more than happy help to those who belong to industries where particles acquire charges and cause problems in the handling. I am also interested in data sciences. I have published more than 12 research articles in collaboration with international universities.
