Arduino hands-on

Who would be interested in bringing a laptop & Arduino along to an tutorial event in Norfolk?
  • A formative idea at the moment, but I've found a young guy with a very good presenting style who is prepared to guide us. I envisage a bunch of people bringing a laptop & an Arduino, whilst others sit beside them and watch/contribute ideas, and our mentor guides us through the tools and examples. I'm hoping Hethel might serve as a venue. We are currently planning this Autumn & Spring 2016, so I imagine just under a year away. Could be sooner if there is a popular appeal for it.
  • Sounds interesting, I've played around a little with Arduinos but would
    always like to learn more.
I could certainly bring an Arduino and a laptop.

  • Looks like it'll just be the two of us if nobody else is interested?
  • That's a shame,

still a long way off so maybe more will show an interest nearer the time.

  • That would be good, hope some more people will show ant interest too.

  • Hi,

I'm very busy with multiple OU modules, but I'm interested if it doesn't fall on a shift day.

  • Hi Alex,

    Yes please, count me in!

I'd be interested, maybe set a date and venue that we can commit to.

  • Thanks for your feedback, sometimes it gets a bit lonely here on the "Community" website. We are looking at Spring 2016, February quite likely, and I thought Hethel might make a good venue. I've not discussed it with the Hethel management but they are generally supportive of this type of event. If we can get a core of participants with laptops & Arduinos, and a few more interested parties to pair up with them and work together, I think we should be able to do a good workshop. I myself know embedded systems but have never worked with Arduino, I've got the new Elektor "Arduino" book on order.
  • Hi Alex,

Interested to know what you think of the Elektor book when you get
it as I've considered buying it. My personal preference is the
Arduino Cookbook from O'Reilly but mine is the first edition so the
sketches are really just a starting point as a lot of the libraries
and functions have changed over the years.
