    Hello Everyone,

I am a C.Eng and been in IT for over 20 years, 15 of them as either a CTO or CIO (as I write this, I realise just how old I sound :-) ).

For the last few years, I have been working as an independent consultant, fixing all sorts of technology related issues (which often relate to people, rather than tech) and carrying out IT Assessments/Due Diligence on behalf of a small group of Private Equity and Venture Capital clients. As a result, I come into contact with a lot of Cyber Security challenges, ranging from "Help, I think I have been hacked" through to "do I need a security policy for that?", and quite a lot in between. So, I am thinking that this group might be a very helpful group to get insight, help and contacts from ... and, of course, if I can help anyone then please let me know.

    All the best

    Pete

  • Hello my name is Dilibe. A mechanical & model-based system engineer, who is grateful to play a central role in the design and implementation of moving parts in the defense, energy & medical sector. I am a code and cybersecurity enthusiasts. As an IT security analyst, I served as an assessor and performed security CONTROLS assessment (SCA) as part of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and continuous monitoring testing/projects, I also perform a review of security documents updated by ISSO to confirm they are FISMA compliant, review and certifying/validation of items uploaded into POA&M tracking tool in support of remediated/closed findings. vulnerability scanning, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, development and updating of IT Security policies and procedures, Assessment & Authorization (A&A) package development and review (such as FIPS 199 categorization, E-Authentication risk assessment).

As Information System Security Officer (ISSO) position, my daily duties included day-to-day support and maintenance of the IT Security program/FISMA compliance for my assigned systems (these could be between 7-10 systems), which include security policies and procedures development and update.

    Hi there,

I just started working as a systems engineer and looking for a career path in cyber security. I have no knowledge of this field so I'm quite eagerly looking forward to the discussions that could help me move forward with this.

    Hi Everyone,

I am Hridita, a second year Engineer at the University of Cambridge.

I always had an interest in physics, and over time, that led me into engineering. Cyber Security was never within my radar until when I did an online course on The Forage on ANZ Cyber Security, which I really enjoyed. Since then, I started to looking for opportunities and internships to explore this field more and consider it as a career option.

I hope to have fruitful conversations with the fellow engineers in this community.

Hi, I operate a website that helps students make sense of college choices. This involves writing about Cyber Security and Information Assurance degrees, for example. You can see an example article here:

    https://successfulstudent.org/best-online-master-of-information-assurance-and-cyber-security-degrees/

I'd like to get feedback about which college(s) members here would most recommend for pursuing Cyber Security and/or Information Assurance degrees? Undergraduate and Graduate advice appreciated. The website is geared towards helping future students.

    Thanks,

    Jake Akins

  • Hi everyone

I'm Rob, an OT cyber security consultant in the oil and gas industry. I mainly look after security for industrial control systems.

My background before this was programming, consulting, project and programme management. I accidently fell into OT security about 6 years ago and recently joined the IET.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

    Hello All,

I m ex Military with experience in encryption and the management of such assets, etc. Post Military I worked within Central Government providing consultancy advice against infosec policy, encryption standards and methods as well as advising on suitable encryption products. That was a good few years ago and now I am an independent consultant as well as a reseller for iStorage. This area I still find of great interest.

Hello everyone it is a pleasure to be in this community. I noticed the last blog post was since 2018 and thought I would reach out so that I can offer to volunteer to help keep content up to date. I hope someone can point me to the person I would need to talk to.
