Can an Electronics & Radio Forum be introduced?

Yesterday I posted the following in the "Online Community Support" forum and Elizabeth Morgan (Web Producer - Engineering Communities) has suggested that I put this in the "Ask the Community" Forum to see how many others are interested in having an Electronics & Radio forum.

"Quite often posts relating to Electronics or Radio appear in "Wiring and the Regulations BS7671" and looking at the available choice of Forums, there does not appear to be an alternative?

In the UK there used to be the Institution of Electronic and Radio Engineers (IERE) which in 1988 merged with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) which of course became the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in 2006."

So, I would be grateful if I can have some support.

Many thanks.

  • You got another 'like' for the original post (hopefully someone's still watching)... this is the institute of engineering and TECHNOLOGY... and by the days, radio and electronics are both founder members of what we now call technology!

There's also crossover into general electrical work... Just last week a smart meter chappie was telling me about the trials and tribulations of getting a signal in a row of houses where the intake is universally in a damp basement. The antenna he attached is 14" long and mounted as high as he can get it while still remaining in the same room, it's connected to a box of electronics that mounts to the front of the smart meter. It seems to me that the cable attaching it is at least a couple of feet longer so he could have placed it better... but maybe he's not allowed to.
