Floods.

Would you build a house in a Fishlake? It is good to see the overhead cables well above flood level, but some ground located sub-stations could be at risk from flooding.

  • Well, there's a place in south west Turkey where the gas from the rocks self ignites  and for a few lire per night you can sleep in the trees, that's a platform about 6ft above the ground in an olive tree in a lemon orchard. Very pleasent as the temperature doesn't drop below 25 deg C at night in the summer.

However, I do think the next govenment in power should consider getting something off the ground....

  • I was involved with a £100 million development - pharmaceutical labs - built in an area which might be flooded.

The whole suite of buildings was built on stilts so that one could happily walk beneath the building, all except the stairs needed to access the "ground" floor.

Where was the main Fire Alarm panel put - yes at ground level just inside the door

"The regs say it must be there" was the reply when I queried this.
