A VERY LONG SHOT BY JP

I am clearing out my late fathers workshop which is proving a huge task.

I found on a shelf today my old Post Office Respirator No. 1A. It is/was a very good dust mask with a pre filter and a cartrige second filter. All packed up in a gold coloured tin, we called a tea caddey as it looks like one. The filter in this one is dated 1991 and we had to change these frequently and bin all stocks older than 1 year.

I would like to continue to use but clearly it is out of date. Inside the tine were the Post Office instructions for use P1 Gen S5160 dated 1977. The instructions say Respirator No. 1A Baxter Pneuseal.

Any idea where I could get a supply of filters?

I note there is one complete unit on Ebay for £40.

You're doing this all wrong, John

For a trip to LIDL, you need to get yourself equipped properly:

    1 - Boots, DMS

2 - NBC Suit No 1 Mk III

    3 - Respirator NBC S6  No1 Mk 1

4 - 58 Pattern Webbing and Belt Kit (not essential, but makes you look more "ally")

If plod turn up, just wink and tell them it was leftover stuff when you were the 3rd man on the balcony - if a few burly chaps wearing white scrubs rock up, keep demanding they tell you the colour of the boathouse.

You'll be fine - nothing could possibly go wrong - you'll be a safe a houses from CV-19

    Good luck

  • If the men in the Black Omegas turned up I can report.

    1. The boots DMS black (marked L and R) went in the dustbin some years ago with green fluff growing on them from storage in my garage.

    2. Never had retained a noddy suit or matching gloves and over shoes.

    3. No S6 respirator but the carrying bag is full of fishing tackle.

    4. I have a full set of 58 Webbing with 44 water bottle. No sensible offer refused if any forum member wants it.
