  • Isn't the obvious approach to apply for a DNO's earth.

You never know your luck, they might even "PME" it.
  • It needs to be sorted out by this time tomorrow, a rod positioned away from the substation is the way forward.

Wowzer, what's happening tomorrow? Presumably it has been like this for a while?

  • Time and tide wait for no man ?
  • I didn't know that about the DNO cables not always having a continuous earthed outer sheath I suppose its just the old fashioned way of doing it. Now I understand why sometimes even underground supply's need an earth steak outside

  • Lol sorry about that sometimes I wish I knew proper spelling. I suppose if you want a cheap installation rather than steak you could have sn earth burger ok coat on door open!
  • All sorted out, there’s now a new rod under the floor boards below the consumer unit in the cupboard under the stairs.

That’s around five metres from the substation and as good as it gets.
  • House is obviously not fed from that transformer, at least not directly if the PSCC is sub 1KA. The sub building looks older than the neighbouring house. Perhaps the housing development merely encroached on an existing sub-station.
  • I think maybe the feeder from the sub goes all the way to the end of the road to a link box then  back up the street to the house in the foto.  I'm sure the DNO would know even if they mite be unwilling to say
