Sockets seem to be changing, problem for inspection?

I bought some cheap sockets (LAP) from Screwfix yesterday, they have a new feature. The fixing screw holes are obviously a problem to someone because white plastic plugs are provided to fill them in. Having inserted them it is very difficult to get them out again, typically for inspection. Whilst this might be in the cause of Fine Art (sockets are not "smooth" enough?) it is a problem for electricians. It could be because the screws (Earthed) are now exposed conductive parts and must therefore be insulated, but not according to BS7671. If the plugs are not fitted the sockets and LESS tidy than standard models from MK etc. I wonder if anyone else has seen these, because I think they are a fairly bad idea. Fortunately, these are only for my office bench, but I wouldn't use them anywhere else.
  • I use Click accessories and they come with them as well. I never fit the caps by choice i just bin them.  I have a customer at the moment who wants them as she already has some of the crappy s------x ones with the caps so wanted something similar.  I have been keeping her a few spares from other jobs.  You can sometimes get them out with a good piece of sticky tape but usually have to destroy them.

  • Good sharp Stanley blade pops them out pretty easily.
  •  just wetted some bread and pushed the dough into the screw holes!

  • Most have a couple of spare screw covers on the back of them.

Schoolboy error. Twenty years ago I did similar and wasted a morning going back to change them.

I got caught again using BG having stocked my van up with the full range of their fittings, I drove back to the wholesalers got a shopping trolley, emptied the van and got a credit on all of the BG fittings then restocked with the Schneider/GET square edge. The BG rep then sent me a complimentary pack of fittings to try and win me back over, some are still in my garage.

I was also given a complimentary pack of Lisse fittings, generally they were okay, but there were a couple of ceiling rose pendant sets in it which were the worst I have ever used , I actually used one and the terminals fell out whilst I was stood on the steps wiring it up, so I threw the other one away.
