Underground or Overground (nothing to do with wombles!)

Hi All, another quick question:

I need to run a supply from a house to a detached garage, about 1.2m apart.

If underground does it really need to be 0.6m deep?

If overghead, can I ignore the minimum height if fixed to something substantial rather than just bridging the gap?
  • For domestic and similar situations I  would consider about 7 feet height to be the minimum, to allow for exceptionally tall visitors.

For burial I would consider a few inches to be fine under a CAST IN SITU concrete path. Under concrete slabs I would prefer a greater depth, or protection with steel plates, Consider the risks of large steel tent pegs being driven into the gaps between the slabs to support a gazebo or sun umbrella for example.
