I have just connected up a customer's new large Belling range cooker. It is two to three times the size of a domestic free standing cooker.
On the back of the cooker there is a warning label. It says to tighten the terminal screws securely or problems may arise. There is a picture of a battery screwdriver with a red cross over it.
I tightened the earth terminal screw by hand and the threads stripped.
I tightened the live terminal screw and again the threads stripped.
Fortunately there were two spare tabs on the L terminals like Lucar connectors, so I used these for the stripped threaded terminal wires.
The earth (C.P.C.) had to be made off by me using screws etc.
Very poor quality to my mind. Some people would have left the stripped threaded screws only just tight with bad consequences.
Belling has lost the plot regarding quality.
