Is there available such an item as an in-line BS1362 (or other type fuse) fuse holder/carrier ...

as per subject - and to go in a small box: is anyone aware of such please and if so from where please  ?

(i dont think blade fuses are acceptable - but do correct if that's incorrect)

  • There are plenty of DIN rail mounting fuse holders, if that's the sort of thing you were thinking of?

A Weidmuller ASK 1/15 for TS15 rail is probably one of the smallest, but is only rated to 6.3A. Probably need to go to TS35 size if you need higher rating.

edit: if you mean automotive blade fuses, they are normally rated 58V or less https://www.littelfuse.com/~/media/automotive/datasheets/fuses/automotive-fuses/littelfuse_maxi_58v_blade_fuses.pdf

  • In line the '150 series holders from littelfuse are rated for more than mains voltages, but as that example take 5mm by 20mm fuses, you are limited to about 5A max and modest PSSC, or at least dead shorts ADS needs to be limited by something upstream.

The ceramic body 20mm fuses have a breaking capacity of 1500A max.

Personally as the fuse holder can be opened to expose live parts  without tools, I'd only want to use it inside an enclosure that could not.

The big brother fuse holder would be this one the HFA-R 20A 600V….

  • Like this one?

  • Used to be common in fluorescent light fittings.

I have a little collection of old 750mA fuses from those too, not seen them elsewhere!

  • They exist for 20mm and 1¼" (32mm) fuses.  A quick search on the RS web site produced a bunch of them.  A few are rated for 250V.

  • Thank you everyone.

The fused terminal block - of course !

The concerns expressed about access to and changing (unskilled) are rightly important and perhaps why I might try further to find the right ready accessory to fit.

    Thank you again.

If you can cut a suitable rectangular hole, and make the necessary adjustment to the thickness of the enclosure along the “top” and “bottom” of the hole, you could also use a BS 1362 fuse holder for a Euro-style modular fitting … or alternatively mount a grid-switch type BS 1362 fuse holder?

  • How small an enclosure? If 86mm sq would do then what about a simple unswitched fused connection unit? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/AA13CF.html

      - Andy.

  • a standard [switch] fuse plate would be preferable .  Is there such a thing that might be at least  IPX2  but not in one of those huge weatherproof boxes (which wont fit the space im afraid).

edit: just to add, are there available PVC (conduit) accessory boxes that are not already preformed with knockout/minitrunk slots; as in ready to drill oneself.
