16 Amp Schuko plug.

Did you know that you can plug a 2 pin European Schuko plug into a U.K. 13 Amp adapter so that an appliance can be used here in the U.K. A Turkish Gent supplied me with tea all day today from a Class 1 electric samovar which had a two pin Schuko plug rammed into a 13 Amp three way adapter. It still worked without the earth being connected.  Genius!

    A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Sometimes I think it would be far safer if the UK encouraged proper continental sockets to be wired as fused spurs alongside the 13A  ones in places like hotels and airports where the probability of foreign kit being (mis)used is higher than normal, instead of the current approach of ignoring it and then folk doing funny things with grey import adaptors and improvised solutions. Even though I'd hope something quite that bad would  be rare.

    Like it or not we are in the minority with our 13A plugs.
