I am very impressed with the Czech Republic railways system. Most days I watch the youtube SlowTV video from the Oustecke Nadrazi railway station.
This station has all forms of transportation - goods trains, high speed Express non stop trains and slower multiple stop trains and most importantly end destination stops for local connecting trains (example two passenger/engine combo units run by LEO). The later uses one driver.
It appears that a local two passenger/engine train was converted for this test.
I have observed that the local train driver delays his departure time in order to allow passengers to transfer from the bigger trains. In fact I have seen him start and then stop the train, to allow another late passenger onto his local train.
The train driver also helps disabled passengers in wheel chairs into the train.
I question what will happen when the driver is finally eliminated from the driverless train?
