Summer 2024 saw one of the biggest global IT outages in history. With many organisations unable to operate their Microsoft PCs, mass disruption ensued across governments and industries.

The meltdown stemmed from an update issued by global cyber-security firm CrowdStrike to its Falcon Sensor software, which caused Windows devices to crash.

It was the most significant cyber-security event of 2024, with estimated losses reaching $1bn. It was also a stark reminder of the importance of cyber resilience in an increasingly interconnected world.
