Tell everybody, who you are, what you do, who you would like to connect with and why you joined IET Professional Development, on the My Community platform - what are you hoping to get out of it?

This is a great way to learn more about others and extend your professional network.

  • Mr Charles Williams:

    Hi everyone!

I've been a member of the IET since I was a student of Electronic Engineering at Manchester University, graduating in 2001. Since then I have had an entertainingly varied career, culminating in joining my family's engineering company, Promtek Limited, in 2009.

I am now the Managing Director of the company and am working hard to embed engineering best practice and CPD into the organisation so that it continues to be innovative and sustainable long after I retire.

Of course, I'm starting with myself, so I'm restarting the process of engaging with the IET and pursuing Chartered Engineer status.

I have joined this community to hopefully be supported and encouraged by others in the same position as me, but also in time I hope to provide support for newcomers to the process.

Welcome to the community Charles. I hope that you find some useful information, but if you do have any questions then please don't hesitate to contact me, or start a discussion thread here.

    Regards,

    Kathryn Bain
