  • Paul Crimmins:

    Hi Everyone,

I am curently employed within a major Defence Company as the Obsolecence Management Lead for land systems specialist vehicles.  I am also just about to start the final stage of a 5 year academic programme to attain BSc (Hons) Electronic Engineering, post which I will be applying for IEng accreditation.

Good luck with the final stages of your studies, if you wanted to get started on your IEng application now then you can make a start on preparing the application in Career  Manager - there is a lot of guidance on how to get started, or feel free to contact us.

    Kind Regards,

    Kathryn

  • Kevin Field:

Hi I am Kevin Field, I have just attained a new post within TFL as a senior (Software) developer for the customer experience group. As always there is lots of new stuff to learn at the moment as well as a new office location.

Hi  Kevin, welcome to the forum.  Don't forget that all that new stuff you're learning can count toward your CPD hours - best to write it down as it happens so you don't forget what you learned.  There are plenty of blogs on the community to get you started, or feel free to drop us a line.

  • Hi Martin,

    Welcome to the community.

Hopefully you will find the answers that you are looking for in the blogs section or discussion sections here, as there are a lot of members that are going through the process for applying for professional registration as well as a number of our volunteers that support the process.

I would recommend logging in to IET Career Manager, if you have not already, and submitting an Intent to Register to tell us that you are working toward professional registration as this will allow us to help you.  You can also start mapping your existing experience against the competence requirements for IEng to see where you already have expereince and identify any areas where you still need to develop.

If you get stuck, drop me an e-mail at: profdev@theiet.org and I'll be happy to help.

I hope you find what you are looking for on the community as well.

    Kind Regards,

    Kathryn Bain

  • Hi all,

I'm a mechanical engineer with about 7 years in industry post-graduating, I've finally decided to take the plunge and commit to aiming for IEng (and possibly CEng later on) having started a new role working in defence this year.

I'm new to the IET so am just getting my head around the IPD information and tools, and just wondered if anyone has any useful general tips for someone starting out towards professional registration?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Alex
