I have been asked for a Technical Knowledge Assessment Report (TKA).

Can anyone give me information on what they want? As the information I was given is vague, and there is no guidance on content, layout or word count etc.

Any help would be really appreciated.

  • Hi Stewart,

Sadly no replies, probably because the answer from all of us who've seen it so far is "don't know for certain" Disappointed

There is a thread here which may help slightly  RE: Technical Knowledge Assessment (TKA) Interview

The official IET advice is for you to contact a PRA for help, but do be prepared that most of us haven't supported one of these before (they're very rarely used) BUT any of us should be able to work out what's appropriate to your particular case.

What I would suggest generally is that your application should have covered what you are responsible for and how you go about your work, whereas this Report is specifically about what you know (your "Underpinning Knowledge and Understanding"). So whereas I'll normally advise a candidate in their application not to write a lot about the calculations, tools and techniques the used to solve a problem, in this Report I'd expect that's exactly what you want to show - a good example of one or two projects where you had to do some real problem solving and exactly how you did it. And I'd also suggest being clear about where that knowledge came from.

Hope you're still here and pick this up! And maybe this will prompt others who've been more involved in this process to respond as well.

    Good luck,

    Andy
