Application for CEng via "individual route"

Hi All,

I have been working on my CEng application for a while now, attended the webinars and have also got my application verified by a PRA >> it's been great so far!!

Recently, I have been informed by the PRA about my qualifications being non-accredited by IET or any PEI. I have completed all my education overseas and unfortunately none of these degrees are listed in the accredited database. After contacting IET, It looks like I can still apply for registration via the "individual route" with "non-traditional" qualifications.

Obviously, I couldn't find any information on the "individual route" process. I wonder if anyone else had a similar situation and/or can help me with this?

Best,

Vijay

  • Hi Vijay,

It doesn't actually affect how you apply, it only affects the process applied to your application. You fill in the same application in the same way whichever route you follow.

The only difference you may see, is that you may be asked for further supporting evidence after submitting your application. But you may not if your application already clearly shows you have "Masters level" knowledge.

As several of us regularly post here, there are NO (zero, 0) qualifications you need to have to apply for CEng. But depending on the qualifications you do have, the assessors will look for more or less additional evidence in your application, and that's where the internal IET process will change between the "individual route" and the "standard route". In fact most applications I see follow the individual route, it's very rare that I come across an applicant who has an IET accredited degree at the right level!

So don't worry about it, just carry on and submit! But good question, it does confuse many people.

    Thanks,

    Andy
