A delay in PRI invitation 2022

I submitted my application on 29 September 2021 (the 3rd UK SPEC was still valid) and received an email from the IET on 6 December 2021 notifying me that I would be arranged to have the PRI. As of today, I have not received any.

I have sent my presentation slides to profreg@theiet.org but am still being asked to wait.

Is there anyone have the same experience?

  • Hello, please accept our apologies for the delay in your interview date.  Unfortunately yours is a very busy sector at the moment, but I believe that you have now had an email from the Registration Team explaining. Many thanks and good luck, regards, Georgia

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I received the email from the IET last week. I hope I can be arranged with a PRI shortly. The problem is that everyone talks about the competences against the 4th edition of UK-SPEC nowadays but I followed the 3rd edition in my application. I am afraid that I will be assessed against the 4th edition of UK-SPEC in the PRI.

  • I completely understand your concerns in that you applied under UK-SPEC 3rd edition and now the IET (as all licensees) are assessing against 4th edition.  However, the new edition in no way disadvantages you, in fact the new edition gives more examples of where you are able to draw your evidence from.  In preparation for your interview you should consult a PRA who will be able to advise you further with regards to any preparation that you need to make. If you need anything else please contact us.  Best regards, Georgia

  • Thanks. I have spoken to a PRA since a few months ago. Of course, I agree that the 4th edition of UK-SPEC gives me more examples. However, I am concerned about the most is the A2 competence. 'Secure the necessary intellectual property (IP) rights' is my achievement but is now no longer recognised as an A2 competence in the 4th edition. I put a lot of effort into further developing the design I included in my application submitted last year, and it is now patent-pending. I am afraid that this would be a disadvantage for me.

    Best regards,

    Hon
