What is the value of Chartered Engineer in UK Job Market?

I moved to the UK last month and looking job in Electrical Maintenance & Reliability Field but I don't have UK Experience.

I have more than 16 years of experience in various locations in the world including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

I am achieved chartered Engineer from UK Engineering Council under IET UK and also a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Engineer (CMPR) under SMRP. I had given my service to more than 18 countries for Electrical Installation, Service, and commissioning but still they need UK experience!!!!

Now I am confused about my professional achievements of the last 16 years.

Best Regards

  • I find Chartership incredibly valuable during the interview process. Every interviewer immediately starts writing notes and perks up once its mentioned. I can understand why companies would ask for UK experience, I'm guessing just mentioning some basic UK regulations & standards like BS7671 should overcome that hurdle though?
