What is the value of Chartered Engineer in UK Job Market?

I moved to the UK last month and looking job in Electrical Maintenance & Reliability Field but I don't have UK Experience.

I have more than 16 years of experience in various locations in the world including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

I am achieved chartered Engineer from UK Engineering Council under IET UK and also a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Engineer (CMPR) under SMRP. I had given my service to more than 18 countries for Electrical Installation, Service, and commissioning but still they need UK experience!!!!

Now I am confused about my professional achievements of the last 16 years.

Best Regards

  • While the basic principles, will be universal, there are a lot of details that have been handed down to us by historical accident and can be very different from one country to another. Even at domestic level, the UK's habit of putting ordinary sockets on 32A or 45A circuits, ring final circuits, reduced c.p.c.s and PFCs of up to 16kA would be very alien to most other countries.
