IEng application

Does anyone have any specific advice when applying for IEng? Would you advise using Career Manager? What is the minimum number of years of experience required when applying for IEng?

  • I would advise getting hold of a Professional Registration Advisor, who can guide you through the process.  The IET will have a list of them if your employer doesn't.  The application process will have changed since I applied.

  • Hi Jehan

Visit our website to find a Professional Registration advisor (PRA).. Enter your postcode if you're in the UK or your country if outside the UK and you'll see a list of PRAs in your area. click on the name of someone suitable and this will open up a contact form that you'll need to fill in and submit. Then someone will be in contact with you.

    Hope that helps.

    Lisa

  • There is no minimum or maximum number of years experience required, as long as you can demonstrate the competence and commitment required and can demonstrate this clearly in the application.

If you're just starting out, I can recommend the Professional Registration Webinars that explain all of the aspects of registration (https://www.theiet.org/career/professional-registration/getting-help-with-your-application/professional-registration-webinars/) and will help you fill out your application with some details, once you have that then as Simon and Lisa have said contact a PRA for further support.
