Is their any recent (2023 or later) UK salary data showing the salary gap between men and women?

The latest edition of the IEEE Spectrum magazine (March 2025) shows Median income by gender for US engineers in full time employment in their primary area of technical competence.

For 2023 (in hundreds of thousand of US dollars) the following values were quoted:-

Men------- 177.00

Women----146.48

Salary gap- 30.51

  • There's some info here, but I'd take it with a pinch of salt without a lot more details on sampling approach, it's based on a very small sample (902 engineers, 92% male and 8% female) so probably not statistically significant unless they were very clever in their sampling:

Similarly for the IEEE survey I'd ask the same questions.

  • Hello Andy:

I was also concerned that the male/female ratio was not defined - resulting in possible sampling bias.

The data was also given for earlier years starting with 2019 and dollar difference has remained the same over the five years.
