CEng PRI Update

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to seek advice regarding a delay I have been experiencing in the arrangement of my Chartered Engineer (CEng) Professional Registration Interview (PRI). I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has been through a similar process or who can provide guidance on how best to proceed.

Here is a brief overview of my application timeline:

  • March 2025: Submitted my CEng application and paid the IET membership fees on the same day, as requested. The communication at the time indicated that PRI arrangements typically take 20–22 weeks.

As of now, approximately 8 weeks have passed, but it appears that my application has not yet progressed to the PRI stage, nor has it been reviewed.

I fully appreciate that much of the IET’s work is supported by dedicated volunteers, and I respect the time and effort they contribute. However, as a member, I feel there is an opportunity to enhance the overall experience and communication throughout this process — especially considering that the membership fees are collected upfront. Clearer updates or timelines could help manage expectations and improve confidence in the process.

Could you kindly advise on the appropriate next steps? I would truly appreciate any information or guidance you can provide.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Best regards,
Divya

  • Divya, it's probably best to get in touch with the professional registration team at: profreg@theiet.org for a personal update.

  • I’ve already reached out to the team but haven’t received any response so far. As it’s now been nine weeks, I’d appreciate it if you could kindly check on the status of my application and let me know whether there has been any progress.

Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to your update.
