Download of Application Forms from Career Manager

Hello IET Community and Staff,

Staff - can you please provide the option for a candidate to download their draft application in Word format to send to their reviewers?  Currently PDF is the only option available to them.

I recognise that PDF secures the original content but is very difficult for PRAs to comment upon - especially if they are using the 'free' PDF application, which I am.

To fully comment on an application I need to highlight what I suggest should be 'corrected / modified / enhanced' and so I convert their forwarded PDF to DOC (I use www.Ilove.pdf.com to to this).  This is an additional step in the process, which costs me time that I resent.  It is also not 100% reliable as Word 'refused' to let me comment more than a few times on a 'translated' document.

In the early stages of a PRA relationship we work on the candidates CV in Word.  Later in the process we work on their Draft submission, it is here that the above problem arises by downloading their application.

If the IET were to give the candidate the option to send a Word version of their application to the PRA then commenting would become much simpler.  Commenting in Word is both simple and straightforward.  Commenting in PDF will cost me a license fee which I would not use elsewhere.

My recommendation to my candidates is that they keep their draft application application in a Word document that we can work on, but most do not after we get past the initial finding-you-ott stage.

IET Community - am I the the only one who is struggling with commenting on a PDF file?

Simon.
