Inquiry About EngTech Application Timeline and Certificate Issuance

Recently a few members submitted their applications for Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration, and I contributed as a supporter and Initial Professional Review Assessor (IPRA). I would like to know the typical timeline for the assessment of these applications, as well as how long it usually takes to receive the EngTech certificate from the IET and any confirmation or registration details from the Engineering Council. Could you please provide guidance on the expected processing and issuance times?

Video at the bottom of this page on the right, talks about the process and how long it typically takes.

For EngTech, at around 1.36, it says it can take up to 8 weeks for assessment, then there is the time after that for approval, council fee payment, then notification.

  • However, don't be surprised if it takes longer at present, there is a backlog of assessments due to some issues following changes to systems earlier in the year - hopefully starting to clear now.
