Lack of IET Scotland Events White Book

I was extremely disappointed to read in the minutes of a recent IET Scotland Committee meeting that the IET Scotland annual events white booklet will not be published this year. See file https://communities.theiet.org/communities/files/46/3020

For many retired members who are unable to access the website this booklet has been their only source of information about local and other IET events in Scotland. Lack of the booklet will likely result in reduced attendances at meetings.

If the National Committee is unable to afford the booklet in its traditional format then surely a much less expensive listing of events and contacts could be printed for inclusion with E&T.

I would earnestly request that the IET Scotland Committee reconsiders their decision to stop publication of the only hard copy source of all events and contact information for the IET in Scotland.

  • Hi Walter

I have been looking at the figures, and out of the 10, 617 members in Scotland we do not have email addresses for around 1%.  There are groups who do not wish to be contacted by email and groups who do not wish to be contacted by post, so no matter which method we use, we will not get this to everyone.
