Lack of IET Scotland Events White Book

I was extremely disappointed to read in the minutes of a recent IET Scotland Committee meeting that the IET Scotland annual events white booklet will not be published this year. See file https://communities.theiet.org/communities/files/46/3020

For many retired members who are unable to access the website this booklet has been their only source of information about local and other IET events in Scotland. Lack of the booklet will likely result in reduced attendances at meetings.

If the National Committee is unable to afford the booklet in its traditional format then surely a much less expensive listing of events and contacts could be printed for inclusion with E&T.

I would earnestly request that the IET Scotland Committee reconsiders their decision to stop publication of the only hard copy source of all events and contact information for the IET in Scotland.

  • Hi folks

The problem, as I see it, is that the "white book" had 2 sources of information:

    1. Information remaining current for year of publication

    • Information on events throughout the year that was likely to change

    The latter being the problem.

I agree with some of Ron's comments - so why don't we produce a printed booklet that contains info about  Student Advisor, Professional Registration Advisors and Schools Liaison Representatives and anything else current for the year of publication etc.?  All other information subject to change i.e. event details would be put on to the IET website or directly e-mailed to "local circulation" lists.
