Calling all potential Manufacturing Executive Team members...

Welcome

The IET Manufacturing Network is seeking professional engineers working in manufacturing to join our Executive Team. By volunteering for this role, you will be representing the interests of the community as a member of the IET and a registrant of the Network, we would like to invite you to put yourself forward for this very rewarding opportunity.

What is the role of the Network?

The role of the Network is to provide a platform that enables the exchange of knowledge and information amongst the community through a variety of networking opportunities. This is done through a number of physical and on line activities which allow you to develop and extend your existing knowledge of engineering within the manufacturing sector, network with like-minded individuals and share knowledge and experiences with others.

What is expected of an Executive Team Member?

Executive Team members act as ambassadors for the Network and wider IET community. As part of the team we participate in various activities such as: engaging in physical and virtual Executive Team meetings to develop the Network's on-going strategy, source and deliver new content for the IET website with a particular focus on developing the MyCommunity forums to support professional engineering networking opportunities.

We welcome applications from around the world and overseas volunteers can dial-in to participate in our Executive Team meetings; we are also looking at other media options to improve the experience. We have engineering colleagues in Malaysia presently supporting the TPN and this is proving to be a worthwhile experience for all parties and are pursuing events organised through the TPN to take place in Malaysia in the future.

Please take a couple of minutes to review the team...We are all volunteers and are passionate about what we are and what we do.

  • Mr. Lee Wood,

It was a privilege to be appointed to the IET Manufacturing Executive Team and is appreciated with this appointment of mine to the current team.

I thank the team for providing me with constant guidance and care during the 1st Conference Call, although we are around 10,600 km apart.

As a past Committee Member of IET LN Malaysia (Session 2011 ~ 2012), this has given me the opportunity to collaborate closely with the IET LN Malaysia in promoting IET to the manufacturing industry.

I found that it is much more meaningful to be involved with the manufacturing industry. For the past two months I've attended two talks/events organized by IET LN Malaysia, and meeting many of IET ‘senior’ colleagues there. We did had a couple of discussion and,  we are now making preparation to make contacts with the industry so as to promote IET Manufacturing TPNs to the industry. This has given me a great sense of satisfaction as a professional in engineering.

Just to remind that, I am currently based in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. And I've done a lot of travelling around this region.

Please feel free to contact me.
