    Hi Ian

Thanks for your response dated 28 August 2020.

I am a Mechanical Engineer in the manufacturing industry.  I started training in mechanical engineering in 1971.

I once had a blazing row with one guy (Electrician) who had written that his former employee, a mechanical maintenance engineer, had found the manufacturing industry mechanical maintenance environment too fast paced.   And to me that was complete nonsense because when a machine breaks down it stops and the repair is done when the machine is stationary, that is, not moving.  It doesn’t matter whether the machinery can run very fast when in production but when it breaks down it stops.  So there is no “fast pace environment” in mechanical maintenance.

You are right fixing something by one click is a fairytale.

    I am reading about SMED.
