Technology Strategy Board activity with Medical Imaging relevance

The UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB) is running a couple of initiatives that are likely to be of interest to HTN members working in the field of medical imaging.

The first of these is the final workshop of the European Framework 7 project, VIGOR++, in London on 9th May 2014. The project has focused on automated MRI image analysis and classification linked to a disease severity index and 3D visualisation to aid diagnosis and treatment of bowel diseases, in particular Crohn's disease.

At this workshop there will be gastrointestinal radiologists demonstrating a system which has been developed and a range of technologists describing the key developments that have enabled this. There will also be presentations from a patient group, a clinical trials company interested in its application for monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and an MRI manufacturer giving a perspective on developments in MRI.

The second activity is a new funding opportunity for companies (and academic collaborators) who are developing Emerging Imaging Techonogies, including those with a medical application.

Up to £1.25m in funding is available with a registration deadline of March 26 and application deadline of April 2. Four briefing events are being held across the UK in January and February. Please see here for more details: http://tinyurl.com/q9g8a87
