RPEng verses CEng - Australian qualifications, are they transferable back to the UK?

I am currently deciding on which professional engineering organisation here in Australia I should join and subsequently trying to decide which qualification is best to pursue.

As I am originally from the UK and completed my undergraduate studies there, I qualify to join both Professionals Australia and Engineers Australia as a full member. The differntiation between the 2 are the qualifications. Professional Engineers Australia highest qualification is a RPEng, which I am not sure is transferrable at all to the UK. On the other hand Engineers Australia offer a CEng, which I assume is the equivilent to the CEng through IET as they are partner organisations. I can obtain RPEQ through both organisations.

Could anyone offer some advice or suggested references so I can research and help me decide which is the best choice?

Cheers, RS

MIEAust CPEng and CEng MIET can RRA.

If you work in Australia, you can apply for MIEAust CPEng.

If you want to return to UK to work, you can RRA CEng MIET.
  • Thanks for the information. Just for my reference, what does RRA stand for?
