ARE CENG AND IENG EQUAL IN STATUS

Can we say that the CEng and IEng be considered equal titles in professional status or IEng is inferior than CEng.

As the Application Form for both CEng and IEng is same.

    Nouman,

We have to understand that many local in our country licensed or educated Engineers see UK as destination for what they call credential tourism.

Because as our fellow Georgios comments EngC has a more flexible rout to IEng, CEng based on competencies as well as education, and I been criticized harshly for that here in the US. Some accused me on boards that by being CEng in USA I some how bypassed the local PE licensing etc, etc.

They failed to understand that I was in the UK system before I got to US that I was employed in a World wide Engineering and Professional services with projects in EU, APAC , Ireland, Israel etc, and that IEng, CEng are not a license to practice but a qualification brand and a benchmark

So local Engineers be it in US, Canada or Pakistan see the UK rout as a bypassing the local standards.  We have to respect the local our countries standards. And politics.

We can try to intellectually show that these benchmarks deserve recognition, but we can't impose that or contradict our countries standards.

So I let the employers and on different social media channels, such as Linked In to access the links to EngC what IEng and CEng are.

link to You tube at times to a short promo video etc.

My Nationally Accredited Engineering Technology degree came under scrutiny to. Until a DEAC NA university in USA earned ABET accreditation. This helps to show the value of DEAC accredited degrees that they can also be ABET accredited.

So don't be troubled, there is value in IEng even if its up hill fight, Its a respected and valued qualification of an Engineer.

I also have friends who went and earned their standard of their country degree to make sure they have the full recognition for their profession in their country.
