ARE CENG AND IENG EQUAL IN STATUS

Can we say that the CEng and IEng be considered equal titles in professional status or IEng is inferior than CEng.

As the Application Form for both CEng and IEng is same.

To be a member of a PEI you have to be recommended by members as in the Free Masons or the Golf Club. This is a very old English tradition. You have to be reviewed by members to be accepted.

This is the first objection to CEng registration. You have to please some very unpleasant persons.

Or you just ask the person sitting at the desk next to you to countersign the application.

Ever since MIET was separated from Chartered Electrical Engineer, the bar for membership has been pretty low.  If you have a degree in engineering or something technology-related, and work in engineering or technology, then you just need to find someone who will sign the form.

Perhaps it's all a metter of where you work.  Where I am, you can't move for tripping over Chartered Engineers.  They are just the people I work with every day, and have no reason to try to keep me out of their club.
