ARE CENG AND IENG EQUAL IN STATUS

Can we say that the CEng and IEng be considered equal titles in professional status or IEng is inferior than CEng.

As the Application Form for both CEng and IEng is same.
  • Mr Gowman,

As someone who spends a lot of my own time helping engineers from all backgrounds, some academic and some less so, to achieve their best and gain professional registration, I find many of your comments rude and unhelpful. There are many hundreds of others like me who work very hard at this!

I do it precisely because the IET is NOT an exclusive club, it is inclusive.

I expect professional engineers to have minimum standards of behaviour, and would be happy to help you to achieve your personal best providing you are respectful.  The length of some of your posts indicate that you have a lot of energy - let's refocus this at helping you achieve your personal best  :)

Please send me a PM and we can take it from there.

Moshe's information has been invaluable although sadly(for me) too late. I am going to contact the European organisation he quoted.

As my previous posts have pointed out I am more interested in getting my IEng, CGLI and experience equated to a BEng to allow me to apply for a job. I spoke briefly to a person at IET about doing a one time block CGLI upgrade for IEngs but the person was not sure what I was talking about. If CGLI did it in the past, why not now? Even looking on international job sites I have yet to

see a job requiring "IEng" or CGLI Full Tech.

Are there any other ways to have your qualifications and experience.evaluated? I am quite proud of my IEng status. I worked hard to get to the point where I was found good enough to earn it but employers(at least at the beginning of the hiring process) need to see a familiar education.

    Moshe ,

    This is correct, my
CEng master monographs have both been accepted for CEng
    registration by two different PEIs.

    If I had
been accepted as CEng ECUK. This would be acceptable for CEng
ECUK, but not recognised outside of the UK.

    I could
not be a FEANI Eur Ing as FEANI accepts only full time University
    Master degrees.

    This is
the second anomalie that needs correcting.

    FEANI
recognises CEng for Eur Ing, but the requirements are only to
    UKSpec IEng

    This is
the third anomalie that needs correcting.

    Entry
into CEng UK is by peer review, this is not requested by ECUK, it
    is an old UK tradition.

    This
needs correcting in IET and all PEIs

    IEng and
CEng are present day certification that a person is up to UKSpec
and is a practicing professionalo Engineer.

Managerts, Professors, HR recruiters, and retired people are not
practicing PEs, I believe that most of you blogging here are in
this catergory of not practising PEs, No objections, you need a
status other than CEng or IEng.

    This
    needs correcting.

    ECUK is a
British perculiarity, it is for UK PEs,

    Why
should the UK register PEs who are not UK citizens, residents, or
    Commonwealth people?

    This is a
dangerous anomalie as we could soon have foreigners ruling PE
registration, and as you know the UK voted BREXIT to control its
    own affairs.

    This
needs correcting, we need a second register for non UK people.
International does not mean giving up sovreignty.

    I see
that you and many here have worked hard to achieve competence and
recognition, Good. But it is not an excuse to block others.

    You are
competent and active, why not try and put the IET house in
    order?

    We need
    change.

No this is an arogant insult.

A technician is a profession, that can lead to I Eng.

IEng is the first run on the ladder of professional
engineering, which can either be brodened horizontally, as the IET
President is asking, or can be increased academically by further
University Master studies or by CPD and a monograph.

Sir you remarks are those of the arrpgant CEng that
are not educated or trained to the level of a full engineer
    apprenticeship, university, IEng CEng.

Every one has the right to his opinion, but CEng are
not going to block IEng without somesort of virulent
    reaction.

Are you really CEng or do you just have
    friends?
