New to the Healthcare Technologies online network? What made you join? How are you involved in the area of Healthcare Technologies? Introduce yourself here!
I am Ian Germer, the majority of my career both engineering and product marketing has been in the mobile industry. I believe 'mobilising' healthcare through conversational applications and messaging bots, remote monitoring, remote consultation and diagnosis as well as exploiting clinicians' and consumers' mobile devices can bring great benefits to clinicians, therapists, patients and of course keeping the well healthy
Welcome. Since you are interested in mobile technology in health applications you may be interested in this webinar on Appropriate Healthcare Technologies (AHT) https://events.theiet.org/events/aht2020/
Best wishes, Leonard (Len) Cornish, Co-Chair AHT2020
There is an industry association MEF (Mobile Ecosystem Forum) which brings together a wide range of players in the mobile industry - I have been wondering about a focus on mobile healthcare. https://mobileecosystemforum.com/reports/
Thank you for your email. A presentation at AHT2020 on mobile healthcare would be welcome if it was relevant to LMICs and the topic of the webinar. The first step would be to submit an abstract for consideration. You can download the Call for Abstracts from the link I gave you in my original post.
My name is Rida Shafqat. I am a final year student and need some inspiration for my final year project. I am new to this community and really looking to forward to learning from my fellow members.
Although I was a nuclear engineer in submarines, I have become involved these days in a wide range of engineering topics, both in the IET (Transport Sector Exec Cttee and Nuclear Engineering TN), plus, through the multi-disciplinary Worshipful Company of Engineers (a unique London Livery Company), how engineers, investors and financiers need to work together to deliver the technology that benefits society. Currently, we are doing this as part of encouraging the City to understand how engineering, with their finance, can achieve the UK Net Zero Carbon Law by 2050. But, as we all know, 2020 has brought a more immediate challenge, Covid-19, and some of us are working on a couple of very relevant healthcare projects - more on those in separate posts.
Automated Handwashing Solution that also reduces waste of water
I'm not sure if this is now a duplicate post of another forum but, in case it is not:
Professor Nachi Chockalingam PhD CEng CSci PFHEA FIPEM, a fellow Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers and Professor of Clinical Biomechanics at Staff Uni, is seeking help to find solutions to a problem that we all face: Automating Handwashing Systems that ensure thorough washing whilst reducing waste of running water.
Yes, there are some part-solutions out there, but none is an end-to-end solution in terms of effectiveness and economy of use. See attached paper and, if you can help, or know someone who can, please contact Professor Nachi (details in the paper), or me. 20201024 IET Call for solutions to Hand washing automation proposal.pdf
Hi , My name is Ian Newington. I work for LGC's Grant Management Group and am involved in research management in the HealthTech (Devices, Diagnostics and Digital) space. I work in the Innovations team which manages NIHR i4i, the AI Award (early phases) and NHS England's SBRI Healthcare programmes.
Ian, welcome to the Healthcare Technology TPN. I'm interested in healthcare technology in general and especially Appropriate Healthcare Technology (AHT) for low resource settings and Hospital Technology Management (HTM). You can find the excellent video recordings of the presentations given at our recent AHT webinars at tv.theiet.org/
Best wishes, Len Cornish, Member, Technical Advisory Panel, Healthcare Technology TPN.
