DO PRODUCTS QUALIFY FOR CE WHEN THEY HAVE 'UL' CERTIFICATION?

Hello experts,

I am intending to ship a Test Rig machine from our sister division in Canada and have some doubts with regards to the legislative requirements.

Normally compliance with 'UL' does not automatically give the right to affix the CE marking, however I requested the Design Centre to manufacture the electrical Panel using CE marked components as it will
possibly skip (parts of) the expensive product compliance testing. Any Idea if this is feasibile?

Secondly, I uderstand thst the Technical file requirements for CE compliance differes from UL requirements. Can anyone please enlighten me on the actual differences and what kind and list of documentations are required for example EMC test reports, Electrical safety certification, component data sheets etc.

Hope to hearing more from you,

Thanks,

Samir Patel

  • Hello Rob,

    Thanks for passing the information.

Actually I'm aware that I need to demonstrate the regulations mentioned in previous mail. What I'm struggling to understand is the key differences between the UL/CSA standard and CE marking as the test rig will be manufactured as per UL / CSA standards.

    Thanks,

    Samir
