IEng Application Process

HI all,

I have more than 20years of professional experiences. Presently I am working towards my IEng application.During my IEng application process I have noticed 'Development action plan'. Can any one help what does it mean? Is it same as CPD? What type of development action we required to present.

Regards,

  • I tried to use the Career Manager.  But couldn't make it do anything useful and gave up.  Instead, I just did a word processor document with a table in it.  The headings for the six columns in the table were:
    • Objective

    • Priority

    • Activities required to achieve objective

    • Support, resources or prerequisites required to achieve objective

    • Short, medium or long-term goal

    • Status of objective

Having done that, I made up some development objectives to put in it, and filled out the columns for each of the objectives.  Achieving CEng would be an obvious objective, but you can add in any other ones you think you need to become a better engineer.

The point of this table is to show that you have thought out how you want to progress in the future, while CPD shows what you have already done.  I was never asked about CPD in the IEng interview.
