It's going to be quiet in London...

Big Ben will fall silent for four years after noon on the 21st August in order for restoration work to be carried out.

I for one will miss the hourly chimes that can be heard from Savoy Place but will it really take FOUR years for this restoration project? The whole of Savoy Place only took two years... !

    Four years does seem like a long time (forgive the pun) but I daresay there are things we don't know about and logistics to consider. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a documentary about it; I'd watch it. If you miss the sound too much you can get your fix here smiley
