It's going to be quiet in London...

Big Ben will fall silent for four years after noon on the 21st August in order for restoration work to be carried out.

I for one will miss the hourly chimes that can be heard from Savoy Place but will it really take FOUR years for this restoration project? The whole of Savoy Place only took two years... !

    I've been lucky enough to be 'up close and personal' as the bell chimes at Noon (courtesy of a visit organised by the IET Beds and Herts Network) which is an experience not to be forgotten! surprise


    ... I'd highly recommend taking some earplugs... wink
