Thyristor failure cause

Hi All

I've got a control system with thyristor failures, 11 of 16 to be precise.  This is too many to be bad luck.  Does anyone know if it's possible to do a post mortem?  I presume it must be over voltage or over temperature.  My simple view is one would be a hole and the other a charred mess.  Is it as simpe as that?

Thanks

    Good morning,

What is the equipment that has the failures? VFD or DC drive?

    Thanks,

    Jon
  • It's a pair of back to back thyristors running a heater in burst fire mode AC.
