HELP!!!

ECS CARD APPLICATION

I am looking for advise on how to proceed with an ESC application. I have completed the health & safety assessment £48.00 and submitted the online application another £48.00. I am now informed that the application is on hold due to missing certificates. The ECS have said this is because I don’t have an NVQ Level 3 qualification and even though I completed my apprenticeship in Zimbabwe in June 1994 which at the time was part of the commonwealth and all our training was done to City & Guilds BS7671, 16th Edition Wiring Regulations.

I have been an electrician in England for almost 20 years and in that time have completed all updated City & Guilds Level 3 BS7671 16th & 17th Edition Regulations, City & Guild Level 3 Inspection and Certification BS2391, member of both the NICIEC & ELECSA, however, the ECS/JIB insist that this unsatisfactory and have forwarded me to JTL Training who will happily send someone to observe me on site and provide me with the required qualification at a cost of £1725.00 plus VAT.

Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry.
To complete the NVQ Level 3 with JTL, you are required to be currently employed in the trade, and have a minimum of five years site experience and have some prior theory qualifications. This course can take between 3 to 18 months to complete depending upon your circumstances, and under the TESP Scheme this will cost £1000 with the AM2 costing a further £725 (plus VAT if applicable). I believe payment plan options are available.
If you require more information, or would like us to take the skills scan information to refer you on to an assessor to progress, please do give us a call on 01978 665401. The office is open Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm. Alternatively, you can complete the skills scan online. This is available via our websiteand by then clicking on register your interest.
Please feel free to have a look also at the FAQ’s listed on our site to see if they can answer any questions you may have.
Alternatively should you have any comments or concerns regarding this application route, or about how to progress, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards
Nikki

I have been unable to find anyone to help at JIB or ECS

  • To the best of my knowledge, there is no longer a route for those with "older" qualifications to obtain the Gold Card.

What was termed "Grandfather Rights" ceased some time ago ... over 10 years ago I think.
