High speed wiring techniques

Right, here's another one for you.

I am looking for high speed, high density wiring techniques to use in a Marshaling cabinet cross connecting low current circuits using 24 AWG wire, I am familiar with wire-wrap and IDC although I cannot seem to find a supplier of wire to board IDC terminations.  IDC seems to be the best to me as it doesn't involve any wire preparation i.e. stripping.

So, any other ideas?

  • Try RS, Farnell or Anglia (Anglia are a disti so will refer you to one of their suppliers) or Rapid (they seem to be getting better), years back when I was still on the bench, I purchased a battery powered WireWrap tool and it worked a treat. I was building test jigs for bed-of-nails tested and could often have jigs with 500 plus connections and manual wrap was a pain.
