Interesting article in E&T online about harassment of female engineers. To be honest though, I think any female working in a male dominated enviroment has probably been subjected to some form of harrassment and considering the percentage of female engineers is still so very low then of course the overall percentage of those who've been on the receiving end of any harassement is going to be high...
I have to disagree with you there - having a low percentage of female workers does not mean the overall percentage of those who've been on the receiving end of any harassment is going to be high. If the percentage is high, it is high and that is unacceptable. (Mind you, even if the percentage is low it is still unacceptable!)
You could say the problem is that the men have not adapted their behaviour when female engineers have started working with them, but I think that is a cop out, as it really means the behaviour was inappropriate previously, just that no one complained.
