Last year I proposed that local centres should adapt the format used by PATW (Present Around The World) to encourage members to share their own experiences. Within each of us there is perhaps a latent presentation that others might appreciate. Most likely such a presentation wouldn't be of the length of the typical local event so it would need to be 'packaged' in a different way.
My local centre supported the idea and at this year's local heat of PATW we used the judging interval to slip in two PAOW (Present Around Our Worlds) turns, the 'cabaret' acts! As the originator of the idea I took the first turn and Maurice Poole, as always, was supportive by performing the closing act!
Hopefully our audience enjoyed the experience, (mainly PATW presenters and their supporters). I think both Maurice and I found it difficult to keep within the ten minute span that we gave ourselves. Having said that it was never part of my idea that PAOW presentations should fit within ten minutes, a necessary limit for PATW competitions. Anything between 5 to 30 minutes perhaps should be alright. Given sufficient support it should be possible to set up a multi-speaker local event, if that isn't too much like herding cats!
Anyway we have given it a go, are any other centres prepared to have a try?
