I think the simple answer is that they can't. The new GDPR law means that the IET are not allowed to publish, or give out to other people by any means, members names and membership status, etc. without express permission from the person involved. There are ways round this but it becomes rather convoluted and in many cases the gain is not worth the effort.
However this discussion forum is open to everybody and by registering your profile you are effectively giving permission for it to be published. Part of this includes the 'badges' awarded and yours includes an "M" which demonstrates your MIET status, so it is feasible for somebody to check a post you have made and verify your membership that way.
