Overhead line equipment failure rate data

Hi Everyone, I'm currently involved in a significant project which requires a in depth RAMS analysis of overhead line equipment, but struggling to find failure rate data specific to the components used.  The closest resource I've found is the IEEE book " Recommended Practice for the Design of Reliable Industrial and Commercial Power Systems". Anyone know of another (UK relevant) guidance document?

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated

  • Hi!

I am not sure if this an answer to your question, but National Grid do release data from time to time showing the number of faults per year on their system. (Fault means something happened so a circuit was switched out of service by the protection - it can include equipment failure, but  also includes events like lightning strikes where nothing was damaged or "failed")

I tried uploading a file showing this, but it did not work.  To summarise the information in that file, they have around 400 single circuit faults and 25 double circuit faults per year on their overhead lines.

    Hope that helps
