Confessions of an Electrician...

So while we’ve not been able to log into the community (you can do so now if you didn’t already know) I’ve been keeping myself out of mischief Blush by going through some of the discussion topics on the old Wiring Regs forum and came across this one: Walking off site where some of you were sharing stories about your experiences with client's pets while on the job.

So I thought it would be a bit of fun to ask you to share some of your funny/bizarre or just weird stories (keeping it relatively clean and protecting the privacy of others please!) from any jobs you’ve been on or done.

… And I’ll send some swag to the author of the story that gets voted the ‘Most helpful/liked’ from the community so don't forget to hit that 'Good Answer' link on any that make you chuckle! (Log in required)

  • IΔn = V/Ω ..... or ..... IΔn = V/Ω

    Nice one Andy... however,

Just need to check what I have done before posting.

May I suggest an edit mode before final post?

  • IΔn = V/Ω

Ah, I should have mentioned that the source is case sensitive - &Omega - is capital Ω ω is lower case ω Ω isn't valid. Likewise Δ or δ but not Δ

If you hit the Source button again you're back in ordinary mode and can see the results of your hacking coding.

Nope I`m not getting it. Thick I am. Ohh dear.

     &omega. Nope. I give in
  • &omega& &Omega&

    Nope still not got it!

      &omega&
  • Ebee,

I give in. How did you get it to both work and not work with the same posts? That takes real genius!

  • Well I am confused now.

It appears that for me reading what I type it`s not happening but to others viewing it it is happening?
  • Not quite. It is working on a preview screen but when you open up the thread it has reverted to not working.

I did a bit of experimentation after Andy's post and found it seems to work fine most of the time but you need to check that it has (I didn't post my experiments but just switched between source and message to see what was happening). I think what you should do is remove the & at the end of the word and replace it with ; (a semicolon). I also found it didn't seem to work unless you put a space in prior to switching to 'source', though it may just be me.

  • I go on holiday for a week, come back and you guys have taken this completely #offtopic... ?

ebee‍ I'll do a 'how to' guide for adding html coded symbols within the 'create/edit post' editor. We've also chased up our request for additional symbols in the symbol pack. The supplier is currently working on an update to modernise their forum module, so our request will hopefully be included as part of that once it's released. ?
